“Move at the pace of trust. Move with Laura Soto.

Laura Soto is the woman I call first when I am needing to understand the complex cultural navigation that comes along with my work in Restorative Justice and Justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging (JEDI-B) work. She not only responds with wisdom from her long career in cultural brokering and bridging communication, she also responds compassionately. Laura understands that this work is as much about body and spirit as it is about our mental capacities. Laura is well versed and well connected with the community at every level, shaking hands with community members on the frontlines as well as the legislators who make our policies. She is fearless and committed.

I worked with Laura on a project to interpret our Restorative Justice Training into Spanish and to emphasize the legal and cultural nuances that Latino/as live with in order to make the training as culturally competent as possible. She moved swiftly and respectfully to get the project moving and I look forward to working with her again on a similar project. At Latino/a Advocacy Day I saw Laura’s leadership front and center. She is inclusive, focused, very well informed, generous, (gorgeous!), playful, kind, sincere and wise. Laura is tremendous at using art, dance and poetry to weave together again the fragmented pieces of our society. I am thrilled at any opportunity I get to see her perform or share her expression. She gives more than her all to her community and it has been an honor to watch her grow as a leader. I call Laura personally and professionally and am always better for it! What are you doing still reading this recommendation?!

Call her! : D”
